I Have a Dream

My dream is quite simple and straightforward:
A world bathed in peace and love is my deep wish.
Most seem to desire and want the same, and yet,
It remains a silent dream, not a loudly lived reality.
But why? Why is it so challenging to make it real and true?
Why does it seem so impossibly naïve? Is it human nature?
The state of the world? The act of God or our own creation?
Maybe it's the naked beauty of denied past pain and grief?
Why do we keep dreaming—instead of creating and living?
When will we stop blindly lying and numbing?
When will we let go of empty, vengeful reasons?
When will we claim the power we’ve always had
to meaningfully change what we still can?
When will we allow the life we deserve to simply be?
When will we be whole, yet still together?
When will we heal while remaining human?
In deep, selfless care and compassion
for who we wish we weren’t, but still are.
How can we see or feel a million mirrors in stillness,
Raw reflections of our own guilty and shameful souls?
How can we welcome and accept without fear or judgment
The vastness of the endless ripples of who we truly were?
How can we forgive the unspeakable and forbidden?
How do we feel the pure unknown, the secretly hidden?
How can we glorify the ignorant dignity of our suffering,
To know how to use and please, with authentic meaning,
Such painfully raw love, yet so beautifully interwoven?
How can we see, hear, smell, touch, and taste
Our shared dreams, if they’re not really here?
What’s the purpose of dreaming or sharing visions
If no one knows how to experience them for real?
But my dream is simple and straightforward.
A world bathed in peace and love is my real wish.
Most seem to deeply desire the same, and yet,
This remains only a dream, though it can still change.
Since the beginning of time,
We hold the keys to make it happen;
We already know how to simply love—
And that’s all it takes to have it all, here and now—
The silent dream yet very real peace and love.
